How to Find the Correct Printer Cartridge Number

A practical checklist for identifying your printer model and cartridge code before ordering a replacement.

Start with the complete printer model number. Look for the model name on the front panel, top cover, control panel or product label. Include letters, numbers and suffixes: similar-looking model names can use different consumables.

If you still have the previous cartridge, check its label for the manufacturer part number. Record the full code, including XL, high-yield, colour or regional suffixes where shown. Do not rely on cartridge appearance alone.

Compare the printer model and cartridge code against the printer manufacturer's documentation and the seller's compatibility list. Check whether the item is an ink cartridge, ink bottle, toner cartridge, drum or maintenance component; these are not interchangeable.

Before ordering, confirm the colour, pack quantity, original or compatible status, warranty terms and current stock. If you are unsure, send the seller a clear photo of the printer model label and existing cartridge code.
